'FlexRay provides more bandwidth for communication in automotive networks and is therefore one of the essential technologies of the future. The integration of FlexRay design and configuration tools in the EB tresos® product family makes Elektrobit (EB) a full-solution provider, able to offer a complete portfolio from a single source,' says Mr. Martin Schleicher, Director at EB Automotive Software Business Unit. 'With the integration of DECOMSYS, we have unique global know-how at our finger tips: At DECOMSYS, the FlexRay tools are not just extended CAN tools, instead the FlexRay tools have been newly developed and tailored to the specific needs of this communication stack.'
With the acquisition of DECOMSYS, EB has significantly strengthened its product line. The two companies have been partners for a long time. In the future, the DECOMSYS offering will be harmonized under the common EB brand name. EB will develop a range of products to enable working smoothly with different tools in the AUTOSAR environment along the V model, from design up to validation.
The products already complement each other perfectly. The core products, DECOMSYS::DESIGNER ASR, EB tresos® Studio, EB tresos® ASC, DECOMSYS::BUSDOCTOR, and the DECOMSYS::VISION monitoring software as well as the DECOMSYS::BUSMIRROR cover the entire development process. In the future, FlexRay run-time software will be an integral component of EB tresos® ASC (standard automotive core), and the design tools will be integrated in EB tresos®. In addition to the elimination of parallel overlapping, in particular continued development with new, high-performance features has the highest priority.
Mr. Schleicher states that 'We will develop solutions, for example, for the analysis of ECU software, which allows the straightforward use of measured data into the design process. This enables an easy validation and optimization of a proposed design. This fast exchange of information between the different tools must be possible not only along the V model, but at the horizontal level as well', indicating the direction of continuing development.
'Already today, a car with FlexRay technology is on the road. By 2010, FlexRay will become fully established. We expect that by then at least six other cars with FlexRay will be in serial production', says Mr. Schleicher. 'And not only our AUTOSAR and FlexRay product lines will be used here. Our comprehensive engineering and product customization service offering will ensure the successful launch of the new technologies.'
As of today, October 16th, the brand DECOMSYS will cease to exist and the company and its offering will be fully integrated in EB.
