Elektrobit (EB), Oulunsalo, Taipei, June 7, 2007 – EB demonstrates a Mobile Internet Multimedia Device (MIMD) this week in Taipei simultaneously with the Computex Taipei International Information Technology Show. The MIMD is targeted at a new category of devices providing fast, ubiquitous and portable broadband access. The EB MIMD is based on Intels 2008 Mobile Internet Device (MID) platform, codenamed Menlow. This class of devices is designed to deliver full Internet-based capabilities in an ultra mobile form factor, providing rich end user experience for browsing and web 2.0 services, multimedia consumption and for navigation.
The EB MIMD runs the Linux OS and supports multiple radio connections including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and HSPA or WiMAX, allowing on-the-go consumers to enjoy wireless Internet, multimedia, communications, navigation and other location-based services on-line.
EB will not offer its own brand of MIMD device, but plans to offer the EB MIMD Reference Product under license to OEMs, ODMs and other customers. In addition, EB will offer complete MIMD product design services to OEMs, ODMs and other customers to commercialize MIMD products under their own brands or customer brands.
