EB GUIDE Speech Target Framework: Automatic Speech Recognition and Speech Dialog-Based Systems

The EB GUIDE Speech Target Framework (STF) is a high-performance platform, enabling automatic speech recognition and speech output within modern speech dialog systems.

Automatic Speech Control for Speech-Controlled HMI Solutions

Modern speech dialog systems consist generally of two components: automatic speech recognition (ASR) and generic speech output (GSO).

After administration and phonetic implementation of the smallest language elements (graphemes and phonemes) their output can then be created by means of the Text-to-Speech (TTS) module and the ASR manager. A further module acts as the regulating instance for the coordinated access of various processes and applications to speech recognition and speech output.

Target Platforms

Potential target platforms for speech-based human-machine-interaction include:

  • Infotainment systems
  • Portable navigation devices
  • Embedded navigation systems
  • Speech-controlled navigation applications (target input by a term in a word or by spelling)
  • Third-party speech-controlled applications (e.g. mp3 control/selection or phone book control / call selection)

EB as Driver of the Development of Speech Dialog-Based Systems

EB develops speech dialog-based complete or partial solutions with automatic speech recognition, tailored to your requirements. We place a major emphasis thereby on the greatest possible user friendliness.

EB GUIDE Studio is a very flexible choice of technology. The tool is capable of supporting conventional modules for automatic speech recognition (ASR) as well as Text-to-Speech (TTS) speech synthesis. In the context of the development of multinational HMI products, the integration of various languages is also possible.

Text-to-Speech enables a driver to receive route instructions that convey the direction as well as the relevant street names and exits. Multiple languages are available for selection by the user.

Reference

In summer 2007, the first portable navigation device (PND) enabling speech dialog target input was brought onto the market. Both the EB street director navigation solution and the EB GUIDE Speech Target Framework platform used for the speech dialog were obtained as turnkey solutions from EB.
