EB Automotive Software Newsletter -
Issue 03/2010

October 18, 2010

Dear Subscriber,

Welcome to the 3rd edition of the EB Automotive Software Newsletter in 2010.

A lot of innovation is currently happening around Human Machine Interfaces (HMI). In current and upcoming car models we are going to see many new elements such as full graphical instrument clusters, head-units with advanced 3D user interfaces and 'eye-candy' effects known from the iPhone and other consumer devices.

The highlight for this issue of our newsletter is the new release of our HMI and Speech design product line EB GUIDE. EB GUIDE 5 is a major step forward with many compelling features that will support the development of advanced HMIs. To name a few of the features EB GUIDE 5 includes 3D content import via collada, graphic effects like blur, bloom and modeled animations for widgets. The PC based tool EB GUIDE Studio comes along with a graphical target framework GTF that seamlessly provides the graphic features on target systems.

You will be impressed when experiencing the new EB GUIDE 5 release.

  Sincerely yours,

  Martin Schleicher

EB developing multicore platform for Infineon's TriCore™ and integrating MCAL for Infineon's TriCore and XC2000 architecture

Close development collaboration between EB and Infineon has resulted in a multicore platform that is particularly well-suited for safety-critical applications. It permits significant increases in performance, for example when used as a domain controller. The multicore platform offers two application options, developers can choose from. In the first mode, two processor cores can work in parallel at a lower clock rate, permitting lower power consumption than two individual processor cores. The second mode is used for redundant safety applications. In this so-called "lockstep mode", the plausibility of results from different software routines on other cores can be verified and approved.

ISO 13400 - Diagnostics over Internet Protocol (DoIP) at EB

The goal of the ISO 13400 standard is to achieve complete compatibility towards the existing Ethernet standard. In the future, cars will integrate into the OEMs corresponding infrastructure, similar to notebooks. Automotive OEMs are likely to utilize the synergies this new broad band communication interface offers, irrespective of the fact that the standard had originally been pushed by law.
