Dear reader,
Both the application development process and the complexity of the basic software in the ECU development with AUTOSAR differ greatly from projects using legacy standard software. Our practical experience has shown that companies that treat AUTOSAR projects like projects for developing legacy software often experience difficulties. Planning and reality often fail to match owing to the new standard's complexity and the new approach to software architecture.
Consequently, the project team comes under great pressure, morale plummets and errors start to creep in. The solution is simple, at least in theory. In order to tap into AUTOSAR's potential for cost reduction, when the project is initiated, sufficient time must be allowed for familiarization with the possibilities offered by AUTOSAR and then to re-plan the project.
We are providing automotive suppliers with basic software tailored to match OEM requirements since 1997. If there is one thing we have learned, it is that a project mentorship by an AUTOSAR software manufacturer pays for itself many times over.
