The Company

Falk Marco Polo Interactive (FMI) is a MairDumont company with its headquarters in Ostfildern near Stuttgart. Using its technologies which have won many awards, FM-I is active in the following business fields: 'navigation systems and services for travellers' with products such as the Falk Navigator and Internet services.

The Solution

The FMI development team is using the street director core SDK for developing the Falk Navigator. Based on the core SDK features and the Business Logic of FMI a new software has been developed that is easy to use and completely usable without a stylus, only by fingertips. EB also supplied an mp3 player that has been integrated with Falk look & feel into the Falk Navigator software package.

The Challenge

FMI deploy navigation software from external suppliers and combine it with their own Marco Polo city guide application. In 2006 FMI decided to select a new supplier for their navigation solutions, but the requirement was that the user interface should remain as it was.

The Benefit

While using a reliable and well proven navigation software core FMI was able to concentrate their development efforts and resources into creating an unique HMI and TravelGuide functionality. The first products which have been developed in that way were launched in spring 2007 with a very positive market feedback from both consumers and trade press. In consequence this lead in 2008 in test winner products with several test winning awards.
