Environmental Factors
EB's own business operations mostly focus on the design, assembly and marketing of products. This represents only a minor part of the environmental impacts over the entire life cycle of the products. Products manu-factured by EB have minor environmental impacts.
EB has had ISO 14001 certified management systems since 2002. The systems were expanded in 2004 to cover the whole Corporation and its production units. The Corporation level ISO14001.2004 system certification was updated 2007.
EB has observed and applied the requirements of the ROHS (use of hazardous substances) and WEEE (recycling of electrical and electronic equipment) directives in design since 2002. The certified environmental management system is being extended to cover those design operations of the Corporation companies that must pay particular attention to the requirements of the ROHS and WEEE directives and the upcoming EUP (energy-using products) directive where applicable.
EB is monitoring the global environmental requirements for products and derived national regulations to the extent that they are related to the Corporation's operations. The imposed requirements will be observed in business operations on a country-specific basis.
