Build Engineer – Farmington Hills, MI

EB (www.elektrobit.com) has an opening for a Software Build Engineer to be a part of its automotive software business in the USA. EB is at the forefront of the latest developments in automotive software, including user interfaces, voice recognition, driver assistance, navigation software, and advanced smartphone connectivity features. The software we are working on is highly relevant as it becomes part of the driver experience and it enables new exciting features, such as AppLink for Ford’s SYNC technology.

This mid-level software build engineering position is to strengthen the EB automotive software team. The focus will be on software projects in order to enable the shipment of the EB infotainment products in in-vehicle applications. We are looking for team members that have a passion for in-vehicle automotive applications and that thrive in a fast paced, technically complex, and project driven environment.

Job description:
• Setup, maintain, and improve a software build environment
• Improve build management system to reduce build times and configuration complexity
• Document build and configuration management processes
• Author test scripts to aid unit and integration test of software deliverables
• Be proactive with management and engineering teams meeting deadlines
• Perform sanity testing on produced software builds
• Perform customer software release activities and create release notes
• Support night build, continuous integration, and release build activities
• Coordinate an international and distributed team

Required skills:
• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years in build management and script development
• A track record of supporting complex build management systems
• Demonstrated software scripting and IT technical skills
• Required tools and languages: Subversion, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Cygwin, shell scripts, Windows and Embedded Windows
• A team player with a proven track record of resolving complex situations
• Experience with multisite engineering environments
• Experienced in multiple software development and build management environments
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Additional skills (nice to have):
• Experience with Hudson build environment
• Experience in developing navigation or automotive software applications
• Fluent in a second language both written and verbal
