Elektrobit’s software toolkit allows creation of advanced head-up displays for a safer, enhanced driving experience; downloadable interactive demo allows developers to “test-drive” AR HMIs

ERLANGEN, Germany – November 26, 2018 – Today Elektrobit (EB), a visionary global supplier of embedded and connected software products for the automotive industry, announced the general availability of its augmented reality (AR) software framework, EB arware. This augmented reality software toolkit allows the creation of AR displays that enable safer driving and improve the overall driving experience.

With EB arware, human-machine interface (HMI) developers can create solutions that add AR information to a vehicle’s head-up display (HUD). This includes data that complements existing navigation information, such as showing distances between cars or marking driving lanes to assist lane departure features.

In addition to the EB arware software package, EB is making available a free, downloadable, and interactive demo to give HMI developers a better understanding of the product. The demo allows the viewer to experience and replay real sensor data recorded from EB’s test vehicle, as well as showcase various product capabilities such as displaying near field information, highlighting adaptive cruise control, and more.

EB arware—in conjunction with EB’s multimodal HMI toolkit, EB GUIDE—gives car makers a competitive edge by creating an in-vehicle experience that is unique to their brand. The EB tools are designed to allow developers to more quickly and easily develop advanced HMIs, with components that integrate critical elements of highly-automated driving systems, including sensors and data fusion.
