Strategic partnership for automated driving

Elektrobit chosen as partner by Baidu to enable safe autonomous driving for Apollo

Elektrobit chosen as partner by Baidu to enable safe autonomous driving for Apollo

On August 7, EB and Baidu signed a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of automated driving.

EB will be providing automotive infrastructure software, EB tresos, for Baidu´s advanced in-vehicle computing platform for autonomous driving, the Apollo Computing Unit (ACU).

The ACU, an autonomous driving in-vehicle computing platform for mass production, is one of the most important products of Baidu Apollo, which is being developed with 156 industry partners including Chinese automakers.

EB tresos enables the development of AUTOSAR standard-compliant software for automotive electronic control units (ECUs) with the highest levels of functional safety, up to ISO 26262 ASIL D. EB’s industry-leading software will allow car manufacturers and suppliers using ACU to expedite the market introduction of safe systems for Automated Valet Parking.

Why Level 3 automated technology has failed to take hold

In a recent Automotive News article, Elektrobit's Vice President of the Americas, Artur Seidel, gave his expert opinion on what the industry must accomplish before reaching Level 3 autonomy. “Implementing Level 3 will necessitate a rethinking of user interfaces already developed for driver-assist systems and a more collaborative approach to sharing the driving task,” Seidel said to reporter, Pete Bigelow. EB is proud to be an expert resource in discussions regarding the state of the industry and development of technology for automated driving systems.

EB's one-stop validation toolchain for highly automated driving presented at DSC Europe

Interacting with big data presents a big challenge to engineers within the automated driving development phase. EB developed a cloud-based validation toolchain for automated driving that efficiently manages terabytes to exabytes of driving scenes and, as a result, allows the engineering teams to focus back on writing algorithms and bringing functions and systems to series production faster.

We would love to discuss and get your thoughts on our approach during our poster presentation at the DSC Europe, the leading conference on driving simulation!
