Falk Marco Polo Interactive (FM-I) is a MairDumont company headquartered in Ostfildern, near Stuttgart. FM-I leverages its multi-award-winning technologies to provide navigation systems and services for travelers with products such as the Falk Navigator and Internet services.
FM-I deploys navigation software from external suppliers and combines it with their own Marco Polo city guide application. In 2006 FM-I decided to select a new supplier for their navigation solutions, but the prerequisite was that the user interface remain as-is.
The FM-I development team uses the street director core SDK to develop the Falk Navigator. Based on the features in the SDK and the FM-I Business Logic, EB Automotive developed new software with an easy-to-use, fingertip touch interface. EB also supplied an mp3 player customized to Falk’s look and feel and integrated into the Falk Navigator software package.
With a reliable and proven navigation software core, FM-I was able to concentrate their development efforts and resources into creating unique human machine interface (HMI) and Travel Guide functionality. The first products developed in this way were launched in spring 2007 with very positive market feedback from both consumers and the trade press. In 2008, Falk’s products won several test awards.
