Information on data protection during the development of vehicle systems

On this page you can obtain information about data collection during the development of vehicle systems.

Forward-looking technologies, including 360-degree environmental detection, provide drivers and passengers with greater safety and comfort and protect the environment. Driver assistance systems make road traffic on the whole safer and are an essential element of our mobile future. As a result, these systems pave the way for the implementation of automated driving. With the aid of environmental sensors such as camera, radar, and LiDAR, they ensure maximum safety and comfort. On the one hand, they support the driver in everyday situations such as parking or driving in flowing traffic. In the future, different levels of automation will allow increasingly less strain on the driver. On the other hand, they are available in dangerous situations and can intervene in driving when necessary. By doing so, driver assistance systems play a key role in avoiding accidents and thereby help save lives and make everyday life easier.

Among other things, implementing advanced driver assistance functions requires comprehensive testing and validation. As some of this is done on public roads, you may well come across such a vehicle. Within the scope of our test drives in public spaces, the vehicle’s entire surrounding area (including persons) is recorded using imaging methods. If you were recorded by a driver assistance system (radar- and camera-based systems), you can notify us of this recording in order to obtain information about the processing of your personal data.
